Grant Teaff, a name synonymous with football excellence and leadership, began his storied journey on the gridiron at Snyder High School in Snyder, Texas. While in high school, Grant Teaff lettered in football, basketball, and track and was first-team All-District in football. He was a standout athlete, excelling as a player. He demonstrated early on the qualities of determination, discipline, and a deep understanding of the game that would later define his illustrious coaching career.

After graduating from Snyder High School, Teaff continued his athletic career at McMurry University, where he further honed his skills and developed a passion for coaching. Following his collegiate playing days, Teaff embarked on a coaching career that would leave a lasting impact on the world of football.

Teaff's coaching career took off when he became the head coach at McMurry University, where he quickly made a name for himself as a talented leader with a knack for motivating his players to exceed their potential. His success at McMurry led to a position at Angelo State University, where he continued to build his reputation as an innovative and inspiring coach.

In 1972, Teaff was appointed the head football coach at Baylor University, a position he would hold for 21 years. During his tenure, Coach Teaff transformed the Baylor Bears into a competitive force in college football. He led the team to eight bowl games and two Southwest Conference championships. Under his guidance, Baylor achieved a historic victory in the 1974 Southwest Conference Championship, earning the school's first-ever trip to the Cotton Bowl. Coach Teaff was recognized as the Southwest Conference Coach of the Year twice and was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.

After retiring from coaching, Teaff continued contributing to the sport as the Executive Director of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), a position he held for 21 years. In this role, he championed coaches' education and professional development, ensuring the future of football coaching was in good hands. Today, Coach Grant Teaff is celebrated for his achievements on the football field and his enduring commitment to fostering leadership, sportsmanship, and excellence in all aspects of life.

In recognition of Coach Teaff and his deep connection to our community, Snyder ISD has unanimously approved renaming the high school football stadium to Grant Teaff Tiger Stadium. We are proud to celebrate one of our own—a person who truly exemplifies the spirit of grit, determination, and excellence that inspires us all daily.
